Recovery

There is no such thing as an outsider in our community. The Task Force promotes initiatives and programs making this is a place where anyone can successfully recover and/or manage a substance abuse condition.

What is “recovery?” Professionals use many definitions. The National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence defines recovery as “a complex and dynamic process encompassing all the positive benefits to physical, mental and social health that can happen when people with an addiction to alcohol or drugs, or their family members, get the help they need.” Any way one defines it, it starts with treatment, and it often involves significant changes. Treatment providers discuss the best plan of recovery for each individual and family.

These resources highlight our community’s facilities, programs, and opportunities that promote recovery and/or management of substance use conditions. This page also provides links to resources that support successful recovery and/or management of substance use conditions.

Disclaimer: The Mayor’s Substance Abuse Task Force does not endorse any one method or approach to treatment and recovery over another. We hope that the information and resources we provide will help individuals and families make the decisions that are best for them.
